JAKARTA – On behalf of Korindo Group, Korindo Foundation joined forces with Dongbang Development Thursday (8/29) to donate hundreds of saplings to Pancoran residents in South Jakarta.
916 saplings of vegetables and herbs propagated by Korindo Heavy Industry (KHI) — Korindo Group’s Balaraja-based subsidiary — were distributed in a ceremony at the Pancoran subdistrict office. These included 400 bird’s eye chili saplings, 150 eggplant saplings, 240 tomato saplings, and 126 red ginger saplings.
The donation is part of Korindo Group’s annual Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program “Ayo Menanam” (Let’s Plant!). With CSC, the corporation plays its part in local community development through sustainable environmental awareness programs, like this planting campaign.
“It is our hope that these saplings bring economic benefits for the locals and help meet household consumption needs. We also want to encourage more active participation in planting and environmental protection,” said Korindo Foundation’s general secretary Lee Sung Hoon.
Besides Pancoran Subdistrict, “Ayo Menanam” takes place in Korindo Group’s other operational areas, such as Cakung, Cileungsi, Cilegon, Balaraja, and Cibubur (Cibubur Square Rest Area), said Lee.
This movement draws recognition from Pancoran subdistrict head Alamsah. “We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Korindo Foundation for paying attention to the natural environment, especially in Pancoran Subdistrict. We recognize your intent and effort, and hope this partnership continues,” Alamsah said.
Meanwhile, Cikoko urban village head Fadhilah Nursehati revealed how her community has repeatedly benefited from Korindo’s aid. “If before this we received health devices, this time it’s vegetable and household herb saplings, which have many uses. Thanks to Korindo, we even ranked third in a chili planting competition. With this donation, we plan to start over with our planting project and utilize nearby lands to support household food security.”
Similar comments were also shared by Pancoran urban village head Rachmat Basuki. Korindo’s assistance, mainly the saplings, has motivated his people to turn the neighborhood greener. “Another sapling donation from Korindo proves that Jakarta’s ‘Ayo Menanam’ (a separate project by the Jakarta government) has the support and recognition from the private sector, including Korindo itself. We will continue to drive active participation from the locals in meeting food and greening needs.”
Through this campaign, Korindo strives to ensure that more and more Indonesians are directing attention to their environment and making use of yards around them to plant useful plants. “Ayo Menanam” is part of the company’s commitment to sustainable development and community welfare. (PR)
