JAKARTA – Last year, the Korindo Foundation awarded Pengadegan Tailor House the Green Sponsorship Bina UMKM Phase I grant. To the shop, this funding assistance was both an operating aid and a “mandate” to be carried out responsibly, said leader Didin Sahidin.

“Again, we would like to thank Korindo [Foundation] for trusting us… we’ll make sure to execute this mandate well,” said the Majalengka-born garment maker.

With tenacity and teamwork, Didin and his team of tailors gradually expanded their services and developed a marketing strategy.

“Thank God, we have now begun production of items like house dresses, kidswear, and travel size prayer rugs. Hopefully we can also make kindergarten uniforms going forward. For now, we mostly get individual orders, but schools and mothers’ Qur’an reading groups have also requested uniforms,” Didin told the PR team.

In almost a year, their hard work has begun to pay off, and the benefits of the grant have started to be felt. The tailor shop now has its own clothing brand, and is registered with Jakarta Entrepreneur, a local government-run platform that helps users start, facilitate activities of, and enable collaborations with MSMEs through a business ecosystem.

Setiyono from Korindo Foundation praised Pengadegan Tailor House’s progress at the Green Sponsorship Phase II grant ceremony Thursday (8/15).

“Following up on last year, we are presenting the grant for the second phase of Green Sponsorship. Of course, we’ve come to this decision after evaluating [the shop’s progress]. Also, as previously known, we have looked into the progress, and fortunately, the Tailor House was doing well. We can proceed to Phase II.”

Setiyono hoped the tailor shop slash community continues to grow and spread benefits to more people. (PR)
