JAKARTA – Entrepreneurship offers great power of shaping the future economy, and young people are key to tap into this power. Possessing creativity, passion, and adaptability, they move the business world, forge opportunities, and impact both themselves and the people around them.
Even so, their journey remains fraught with challenges, especially regarding access to capital. This is the case with Adinda, who runs a beverage shop from Rawa Jati Urban Village in South Jakarta.
“I still do R&D, designs, and packaging on my own. It can get overwhelming, because I’m also handling daily operations, marketing, and finances. So my plan with the funding from Korindo Foundation and Clemont [Finance] is putting them on social media promotions, since I’ve only done bazaar events. Next year, I’d like to sell more regularly online.”
Made available through Korindo Foundation’s Youth Entrepreneurship program, the money also reached three other “youngpreneurs” in Pancoran Subdistrict, each focused on different products.
Youth Entrepreneurship is run in line with state efforts to increase the percentage of entrepreneurs in the nation and achieve the vision of Indonesia Maju (meaning “Advanced Indonesia”), said Korindo Foundation’s General Secretary Lee Sunghoon at the funding handover ceremony Tuesday (11/26).
“We’re aware of the multiple micro-sized businesses that have growth potential but are being held back by funding. It is our hope that Youth Entrepreneurship can help young business owners grow their companies,” Lee said.
Opening the ceremony was Pancoran deputy subdistrict head Rudi Cahyadi, who delivered a warm speech to Lee, the beneficiaries, and Clemont Finance’s operational director Chu Minsuk, also present that day.
“Creating more entrepreneurs is Jakarta’s priority, so hopefully these grants are used well. I’d also like to acknowledge the bravery all of you [beneficiaries] have shown to take risks and make that jump into entrepreneurship. I hope your businesses will promote entrepreneurial spirit in the Pancoran area,” Cahyadi said.
Entrepreneurship is the ability to develop and manage a business that benefits both the doer and the society. Today, the younger generation plays a major role in the business sphere, and Youth Entrepreneurship exists to help them make innovative ventures and drive economic growth. (PR)
