BALARAJA – Korindo Heavy Industry (KHI) and Kenertec Power System (KPS) are two heavy machinery companies under Korindo Group, whose high occupational hazard risks call for a mechanism that ensures staff are safe and healthy at work. This mechanism is the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS, or HSEMS).
Both management’s strong commitment further strengthened the support channeled into creating this system, allowing KHI and KPS to pass the external OSHMS audit by audit body Surveyor Indonesia and get themselves gold OSHMS certificates and flags.
These certificates and flags were presented in a symbolic ceremony on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, at the KHI auditorium, which KHI and KPS executives attended. “This achievement is something we are all proud of. It’s a challenge to implement an occupational safety and health management system (OSHMS) in a business with high-risk operations,” said Nurohmad, KHI’s HSE Manager.
KPS’s HRD/GA Manager, Najib Hanafi, extended his gratitude to all the parties supporting KPS’s OSHMS program. Their help, he said, had enabled KPS to perform well at the audit and gain recognition in and out of the company.
On the same occasion, the Head of Korindo Group’s Learning & Innovation Center, Setiyono, offered his congratulations and encouraged the subsidiaries to be consistent with running OSHMS and maintain their performance.
“This is because keeping a title is harder than getting one. Our next challenge is finding out how to establish OSH [occupational safety and health] as a culture that takes root in every executive and employee. Thank you, HSE team, for your hard work and the management for your support. I commend you on this achievement.”
OSHMS is a system that “manages workplace safety and health”. Its operation adheres to Government Regulation 50/2012, while its assessment is divided into three stages: first-stage (with 64 criteria), transition stage (122 criteria), and second or “advanced” stage (166 criteria); the latter of which KHI and KPS underwent and obtained a SATISFACTORY rating.
