JAKARTA – It’s not just students who derive support from Korindo’s scholarships. Colleges do too — especially to maintain operations, said Dr. Nandi Kosmaryandi, Vice Dean for Resources, Collaboration, and Development at IPB University’s Faculty of Forestry and Environment during the scholarship alumni gathering at Korindo Headquarters Saturday (7/27).
“They’re a great help for public universities, which are state-owned and often have to run with limited funding.”
He wished to see this educational program reach more schools in East Indonesia. Kosmaryandi also asked past awardees to provide encouragement or internship opportunities for current awardees in need.
“I expect your [alumni] support for our younger brothers and sisters. It can mean anything, for example, internship opportunities. These things have helped Mr. Norma here establish a job training course.”
Since 1998, Korindo Foundation has been financially aiding secondary students and college goers, with thousands of beneficiaries spread across schools and higher institutions such as the University of Indonesia (UI), National University (UNAS), Indonesia University of Education (UPI), IPB University (IPB), and Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
“We are committed to making educational contributions through programs that recognize and motivate overachievers and financially-disadvantaged learners,” stated the Foundation’s general secretary Lee Sunghoon, also present that Saturday.
This alumni gathering aims to maintain ties between Korindo Foundation, scholarship recipients, and lecturers, in addition to enabling networking and exchanges of academic and work experiences. (PR)
