BANTEN – PT Korindo Heavy Industry (KHI) received another K3 Award this year from the Banten Manpower & Transmigration Service — acting on behalf of the provincial government — on Wednesday (02/28). Snatching a win in the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (P2K3) category, KHI was included in the 329 awardees that have successfully built a K3 (health, safety, and environment) culture in their workplaces.
Banten’s interim governor Al Muktabar presented the plaque in person to KHI representative at Banten Governor Office’s pendhapa (Javanese pavilion-like structure, used for ceremonies). K3 Awards have three categories: Zero Accident (with 123 winners), P2K3 (with 173 winners), and COVID-19 Prevention and Handling (with 33 winners).
The governor made known his appreciation for companies running K3 according to applicable laws, considering safety is integral to business sustainability.
“The K3 Awards is what we do to encourage companies to obey regulations and remind them to ensure work safety and health in their operations. Going forward, I hope more firms participate in this event,” Muktabar said in his opening speech.
The award ceremony closes the National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N), a recurring event that involves businesses verified by Banten Manpower & Transmigration Service with excellent results.
Meanwhile, PT Korindo Heavy Industry’s HSE Manager Nurohmad expressed his gratitude for the award. He hoped it would motivate staff in practicing K3 and raise K3 awareness among other employees.
“Thank God we got the P2K3 award again. I hope we can go higher next year and win Zero Accident and COVID-19 Prevention and Handling,” he said to the PR team.
Through its supervision program, the Banten government commits to guaranteeing occupational safety and health, and expects all locally-based companies to boost occupational accident risk mitigation actions in their respective locations. (PR)
