JAKARTA – Within short time, two natural disasters have hit the country. On last 5th of August 2018, an earthquake with a Richter scale of 7 hit North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and its surrounding areas. And recently, on Friday evening of September 28th 2018 to be exact, there has been an earthquake with magnitude of 7.4 shaking Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi. Both disasters has caused damage to thousands of buildings and thousands of people have died.
Seeing these conditions, KORINDO Group immediately tried to help the disaster victims. KORINDO Group through KORINDO Foundation is currently in intensive coordination internally and externally in order to be able to distribute the aid to the disaster areas in Palu and Donggala. According to plan, KORINDO Foundation will cooperate with the Headquarters of Indonesian Red Cross in distributing aid in the form of plywood/multiplex which will be able to be used in rehabilitation process and reconstruction for the victims. The aid distribution will be pursued in the near future.
Previously, KORINDO Foundation has also distributed logistic aid for natural disaster victims in Lombok. In cooperation with Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), a non-profit organization focusing on social and humanitarian issues, KORINDO, on last 25th of September 2018 has delivered aid directly to ACT storehouse located in Sindur Mountain, Bogor Regency, West Java. The total aid distributed by KORINDO was 58 boxes consisting of logistical needs and basic needs.
Imam Badawi, as representative from ACT delivered his gratitude for the aid provided by KORINDO. “We as representatives from ACT would like to thank KORINDO and the other donors for the aid entrusted to us. May the efforts from the donors be blessed and may success be with you. We cannot repay you with anything, but we believe God will repay the good deeds from the donors, in which aid also came from KORINDO,” said Imam Badawi.
