Korindo Group Plants 500 Tree Seedlings in Jakarta Forest. In celebrating the Earth Day, Seru Bareng Community Jakarta in collaboration with the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, the Forestry Agency, held a social event with the theme of “Hutan Jakarta.” The event was held on Saturday-Sunday, 22-23 April 2017 in Srengseng Urban Forest, West Jakarta.

Korindo Group has contributed to the event by providing 500 tree seedlings that were planted in Srengseng Urban Forest. “Through this contribution, Korindo hopes that Srengseng Urban Forest will be more sustainable and attracts more visitors, both from Jakarta and other areas,” said Andre Roberto, GM of HRD and GA of Korindo Group at the venue.

As Andre explained that the purpose of this contribution was to support the replanting in the Capital of Jakarta and to improve the function of urban forest as the lung of the city. “It is part of a series of the environmental conservation activities around Jakarta, which is one of the pillars of Korindo CSR, for a greener, more beautiful, and more sustainable Capital,” he said. He also stated that Korindo will plant 5,000 trees in East Jakarta in May 2017.

The Head of Seru Bareng Jakarta Community, Julian Riezki, explained that the theme of Hutan Jakarta or Hari Untuk Anak Jakarta was”Bukan untuk Hura-hura (Not Just for Fun).” The concept was like a simple Jamboree complete with camping, collaboration between nature and art.

“The target is to let the young generation know that Jakarta has many urban forests which are very useful and have many purposes for the community and the youths. They can be used as spot for positive activities, sharing, education, and recreation as an alternative destination for family in the holiday, especially for Jakarta citizens,” said Julian.

There were a number of collaborations from various creative communities, such as Foto Kelas Pagi Community, Stand Up Community, Film Community, Puisi Community to Harmonika Community. The event that was held on 22-23 April 2017 was also enlivened by a number of indie musicians who cared and wanted to get involved in an attempt to revive and preserve urban forests, such as Ari Reda, Marco Marche, Sarah N Soul, Rull Darwis, and even of the founders of Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam, and Opa Herman Lantang, a friend of Soe Hok Gie.

“This activity is expected to open up another collaboration to revive and conserve the urban forests in Jakarta because Hutan Jakarta will move to every urban city in Jakarta,” said Julian Riezki as the representative of Seru Bareng Jakarta Community and as the Chief Organizer of Hutan Jakarta. This event was fully supported by DIVERTONE as the official partner media and Seru Bareng Jakarta Community, all communities in Jakarta, fellow online creative medias, and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta.
