BOGOR REGENCY – Trees play a central role in offsetting the effects of air pollution. They absorb harmful carbon that circulate on the Earth’s surface, and produce oxygen, which is beneficial for life. Together with the Bogor Regency Environmental Service, Korindo Foundation made a commitment to transform a former landfill in the Pondok Rajeg region into an urban forest or the Pondok Rajeg City Forest.

Under this agreement, Korindo is to fill 3 hectares of the site with the sengon (Albiza chinensis) variety. Doing this is a challenge on its own, as it is not easy to grow trees in an area once filled with waste piles. However, the Foundation managed to set approximately 1,600 trees of this species in soil in the first phase of the work, eventually turning the lot into a forest as intended.

“We are very pleased that the Foundation has many times contributed to the regency development, beginning with the Pakansari City Forest and now with Pondok Rajeg through the sengon planting agreement signing today. We are very grateful and would like to express our honor,” said Alexander Frans, leader of Bogor Regency’s Environmental and Social Responsibility facilitator team.

We, the Korindo Group, are committed to creating green environments in Indonesia. We are fully aware that as trees grow, so do the hopes and dreams to protect nature. We will continue to launch effective programs to support forest preservation efforts and the expansion of open green spaces as the “lungs” of our community. (PR)
