JAKARTA – Last Wednesday (8/23), Korindo Group and Foundation launched the “Green Competition” quiz contest to boost the spirits and study motivation of high school seniors, especially those in Pancoran Subdistrict. Competing were students from Perguruan Cikini (Percik) High, 55 Jakarta Public High (SMA Negeri 55 Jakarta), and Fatahillah High, at Percik’s location in Duren Tiga Urban Village.
“This contest is for high schoolers and university students. We want to get them motivated for school, so when they go to college and work later on, they won’t feel burdened by all the workload and pressure,” said CSC General Manager at Korindo Group, Setiyono.
Green Competition’s version of the quiz bowl had two rounds: a mandatory round and a tossup round. In the first, teams would have to give elaborate answers under a time limit, where these attempts would be evaluated by the judges. Scoring was determined on a scale from 0 to 100.
For the second session, each team was given the same chance to answer multiple choice questions read by the MC by buzzing in. Each correct answer would be rewarded with 100 points, while wrong ones would get a 50-point deduction per question.
An independent educational agency was involved to prepare the question sets. Winners received a cash prize and a plaque.
Percik principal Sarmawijaya gave the event a warm welcome. “I’m grateful. It’s a great activity, with tons of benefits for our kids. They get to practice, improve their skills, and build mental strength… I hope Green Competition can be the start of future collaborations with Korindo. Thank you, Korindo.”
