BOGOR – Not long ago, Aspex Kumbong provided Sadewa Female Farmer Group in Wanaherang Village (Gunung Putri Subdistrict, Bogor) with some parts for the group’s hydroponic greenhouse. These parts included UV, heat-resistant plastic roofing and aluminum mosquito netting to ensure optimum plant protection.
Both the roofing and nets help shield the plant collection from extreme weather conditions and pest attacks, while also improving harvest quantity and quality. This donation is part of Aspex’s CSC (Corporate Social Contribution) programs, an effort to promote community empowerment and environmental longevity.
Sadewa Female Farmer Group is acclaimed as one of Bogor’s economic empowerment initiatives with a focus on urban farming. Besides planting and maintaining water-grown vegetables, the group takes one step further to enhance the economic value of its output, by making and selling juice made from the produce.
At the donation handover ceremony, Aspex Kumbong’s general manager Jung Chan Ho shared with the audience how Aspex highly supports community-based programs with a direct impact on community well-being. “We are proud to be contributing to this greenhouse project. We hope that with the protection from UV plastic [roof] and aluminum mosquito net, Sadewa can maximize its production and create high-quality vegetable juice,” Jung said.
Farmer group leader Tiktik Santika Budiati expressed her gratitude. “It means a lot to us, how the company assists with our greenhouse construction. With adequate protection [for our plants], we can [now] keep them safe from extreme weather and pests, and also ensure the quality of our vegetable juice,” Tiktik said.
Aspex expects its support to help Sadewa grow and be an example of urban farming success in the Bogor area. This CSC program is also meant to inspire other companies into taking part in sustainable community empowerment activities. (Nunung/AK)
