JAKARTA This year, Korindo Foundation hopes to help more students continue their college studies by increasing its scholarship quota from five to six awardees per university.

“We have deep appreciation of the dedication and perseverance shown by the students here,” said the Foundation’s general secretary Lee Sunghoon at the awarding ceremony at IPB University, Tuesday (9/16). “We hope our scholarships benefit and encourage you to perform consistently. May everyone finish their studies well.”

Members of Korindo Foundation’s partner colleges, like Dr. Untung Yuwono from Universitas Indonesia (University of Indonesia), welcomed the quota expansion.

The Vice-Dean of Education, Research, and Community Service at Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Humanities said, “On this special occasion, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Korindo Foundation for continuously aiding our students. Scholarships are more than financial assistance,  they’re long-term investments [on people] and support for the younger generation. Through scholarships, students get to grow as committed and responsible individuals.”

For 2025, Korindo Foundation scholarships are granted to five top universities (public and private) in Indonesia.

These include IPB University, Universitas Indonesia, National University (Universitas Nasional/UNAS), Indonesia University of Education (UPI), and Gadjah Mada University (UGM), with awardees majoring in Korean Language and Culture as well as Forestry and Environment.

At National University or UNAS, the program has been ongoing since 2005 as part of Korindo Foundation’s support for students pursuing higher education, as well as local talent development.

“On behalf of the Faculty of Language and Literature, we would like to thank [Korindo Foundation for its] immense and consistent contribution, especially towards our Korean Studies program. It not only helps our students financially, but also in terms of hard and soft skill development,” said Fadhillah, MH, UNAS’s vice-dean for its Faculty of Language and Literature.

An awardee from Indonesia University of Education expressed similar thoughts.

“I come from a fairly average family, where my parents have to work hard to pay my tuition. This scholarship helps me relieve their burden and also my needs [for the academic year],” said Fachira Sohwatunnisa during the awarding ceremony at the Indonesia University of Education campus Tuesday (9/23).

It is Korindo Foundation’s mission to ensure overachievers like Fachira remain supported in achieving their goals. This commitment reflects our efforts to herald a qualified, competitive cohort of talents and pave their way towards a brighter future. (PR)
