BALARAJA – PT Korindo Heavy Industry (KHI) honors its commitment to running the health, safety, and environment management system (HSEMS or locally known as SMK3) by teaming up with an external agency for an audit. This assessment is part of a certification program targeting occupational safety and health management systems of local firms. SMK3 implementation is mandatory due to it being a component of a wider risk control system tied to work activities that creates a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
Its use is governed by Government Regulation 50/2012, which aims to improve OSH effectiveness through “planned, measured, integrated, and structured ways” and fend off occupational accidents and diseases.
The company is working with PT Surveyor Indonesia, a subholding of a leading survey service provider that caters to the testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) industry. The audit took place in two stages (September and October 2023), where in the second one KHI received a “Satisfactory” rating in 166 criteria.
“Thank you KHI for trusting us with this audit and for the great teamwork in ensuring the process remains on track and ends well,” said lead auditor Denny Adriansyah.
On the company’s achievement, HR GA general manager Hyun Sunwoo hoped they could maintain and make more accomplishments going forward. He also took the time to appreciate all workers and the HSE team for their efforts in preparing for the event.
Meanwhile, the head of Learning & Innovation Center at Korindo Group, Setiyono, thanked KHI management, its HSE team, and all the workers for getting involved. “This is the first audit conducted for certification purposes. This year, PT Kenertec Power System, PT Korindo Heavy Industry, and PT Bimaruna Jaya will be participating, and other business units will follow suit in 2024. Hope everything goes as planned and the results are good,” he said.
As a Korindo Group subsidiary, PT Korindo Heavy Industry promises to create a safe, comfortable work environment, and its audit results for the year have proved this. (Rendy/LIC)
