BOGOR – Two years have passed, and an area of two hectares (ha) located in front of Pakansari Stadium, Bogor Regency, has turned into a sprawling green space. Illegal buildings and piles of garbage are gone. Now, only shady trees can be seen with a canopy bringing out a fresh air to the surroundings.
The open green space known as Pakansari City Forest has provided many benefits for its surrounding community. Stock farmers can utilize the grass located in the back of the urban forest as a livestock feed. On the other hand, the atmosphere around the area has become fresher thanks to the thousands of Eucalyptus deglupta trees that have been planted since 2019.
Pakansari City Forest is Korindo’s program in environmental conservation in collaboration with Bogor Regency Government. “We are responsible for managing the place for three years (re: 2019-2021), and then we will hand it over to the government in November 2022,” said the General Secretary of Korindo Foundation, Seo Jeong Sik.
