Toiletries and Sleeping Mats for Victims of Mount Semeru Eruption

BOGOR, DECEMBER 23, 2021 – Korindo Foundation handed over an aid package consisting of folding mattress and toiletries for people affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. The donation was distributed through Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), which was officially handed over at Indonesia Humanitarian Center (IHC), Mount Sindur, Bogor Regency, Thursday (23/12).

The distributed aid consists of 18 units of folding mattress, 50 boxes of adult face masks, 50 boxes of children face masks, and dozens of liquid soap. The General Secretary of Korindo Foundation Seo Jeongsik mentioned that the aid package was chosen according to the needs of the community that are displaced due the eruption of Mount Semeru in early December.

“Although it doesn’t seem much, I hope the packages we provided would be useful and ease the burden of the affected residents,” said Seo.

Korindo Foundation is the division that handles Korindo Group’s social activities, including the distribution of assistance to victims affected by disasters. Previously, Korindo Foundation also provided material support following the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi as well as the earthquake in Lombok in 2018.

Seo said, the series of donations through the Korindo Disaster Relief program is proof of Korindo Group’s commitment in paying attention towards the welfare of the community. “Korindo strives to be there, to ease the burden of the disaster victims in various regions in Indonesia,” he said.

Korindo Foundation once again teamed up with ACT to distribute aid packages to the victims of Mount Semeru eruption. The package will be delivered next week, along with aid packages from other donors.

The Coordinator of IHC Mount Sindur Wahyu Abdi expressed his deep appreciation for the contribution from Korindo Foundation. “Hopefully this action from Korindo can inspire other companies or communities in easing the burden of victims affected by the disaster, in this case the people affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru,” he said.

Korindo Group does not only carry out social contribution during natural disasters. Beyond that, Korindo through Korindo Foundation often carry out real action to provide positive impact for society and the environment.

The programs that are regularly being carried out are active community empowerment through productive assistance. Recently, Korindo Foundation provided funding and mentorship assistance for two communities that want to build catfish farming business during the COVID-19 pandemic. (pr)
