Papua – On Tuesday (18/6), Korindo Group distributed scholarship aid to students in Getentiri Village, Jair District and Ujung Kia Village, Ki District, Boven Digoel, Papua Province. Both villages are located in the rural area of Papua that borders with Papua New Guinea. A commitment was shown by Korindo Group, which is located in Papua, in order to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia.
An education scholarship valued at Rp74 million was given by the Management of Korindo Papua to 124 students consisting of 53 elementary school students, 37 junior high school students, 20 vocational high school students, and as many as 14 people from Getentiri Village were given an opportunity to go to university located in Merauke. The scholarship distribution was joined by the parents of each student recipient and was witnessed by the teachers who were present, and clan chiefs in the said areas.
Dominikus Bokavi, one of the students of SMKN 1 Jair, alongside the other students expressed a gratitude for receiving the education scholarship. “We are so grateful to Korindo, and we promise to study harder in the future,” he said.
The scholarship program is one of the company’s programs as a form of concern toward education, in particular education in remote areas.
“We hope through this scholarship program, the children of Papua can be further motivated and feel excited to study so they can benefit the nation and country in the future,” said Mr. Cho Hyun Mo as the Management of Korindo Papua.
The Secretary of Jair District, Yohanis Kumirip, as well as the board who were also present at the scholarship distribution ceremony expressed their gratitude to the company for its contribution that has been given to help improve the quality of education in Papua. [Egi Zatria/CSC Papua]
