Palu, November 1st 2018 — After a quite long journey, Asike Global Ship owned by KORINDO Group finally arrived at Port of Pantoloan, Palu. The ship carried an aid from KORINDO Foundation in the form of plywood worth of Rp7,000,000,000 (seven billion rupiahs) for the reconstruction process after the earthquake and tsunami hitting Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.
The material aid distributed are 112,120 sheets and they were collected from the plywood production centers of Korindo Group. This aid was transported using KORINDO-owned Asike Global Ship to be shipped directly to Palu City and arrived on Wednesday, 31st of October 2018.
This aid was handed over directly by the Vice Chairman of KORINDO Group Mr. Kim Sang Jin accompanied by the General Secretary Yi Sun Hyeong to the Staff of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Central Sulawesi at Port of Pantoloan, Palu.
“We hope this aid will be able to help the government and the people of Palu, Donggala, and the surrounding areas to accelerate the recovery and reconstruction processes in areas affected by the disaster,” said Mr. Kim Sang Jin during the aid delivery in Palu today (Thursday, 1/11). He appreciated PMI for the cooperation in delivering the material aid. Mr. Kim also hoped that Palu, Donggala and the surrounding areas can quickly recover from the situation so the people can return to their normal routine activities.
As reported previously on 11th of October 2018, a symbolic aid delivery was held at the Headquarters of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and handed over by the Head of KORINDO Foundation who also serves as the Senior Vice Chairman of KORINDO Group, Mr. Robert Seung to the Executive Chairman of PMI, Prof. DR. Ir. Ginandjar Kartasasmita.
According to Ginandjar, “With this aid, PMI will help the people affected by building a non-permanent shelter which later on can be used by the citizens to do daily activities. We also thank KORINDO Foundation for providing aid through PMI to help the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi,” he said.
The aid is one of KORINDO Foundation’s form of concern towards Indonesian people, particularly those in need.
