JAKARTA – Hundreds of basic food kits were distributed in Pancoran Subdistrict, South Jakarta on Wednesday and Thursday (3/28-29). This donation was made under Korindo Charity Week, a program by Korindo Foundation to help relieve financial burden amid rising food prices.

Each package was delivered to subdistrict residents and members of the local elderly communication forum (FKLU). This forum was formed of Pancoran senior citizens, and founded on the love of the elderly, who yearn for assistance, care, and mutual aid.

FKLU programs include community fitness sessions, counseling, and routine medical check-ups, to name a few. All comes with a goal to help the members stay positive, healthy, and surrounded by friends to exchange thoughts with.

Subdistrict head Alamsah said donating basic foodstuffs in Ramadan, like what Korindo did, is a “wise choice” as it lines up with public need.

“Basic items have been selling at high prices in markets everywhere since pre-Ramadan days, and complaints about them have reached our ears. [For that] we’re thrilled to have this donation. People can at least enjoy a full-stocked kitchen without having to spend a dime,” he said in his greetings.

Recipients were pleased and thanked the Foundation for the packages, which indirectly helped the state resolve their struggles in facing the high costs of essentials.

FKLU leader for Pancoran Subdistrict, Sri Wuryaningsih, also made known her gratitude for the Foundation’s attention to Pancoran locals and elders.

“On behalf of the forum, I’d like to give my biggest gratitude to Korindo, because, well, donations like this are not so common for elders. Our members were all excited about this event that they got themselves set up days prior. It’s our hope that more assistance be given to our community,” Sri said.

Korindo Charity Week is an annual social program in Korindo Foundation. This year, it focuses on improving the finances of those affected by soaring staple prices in Ramadan. (PR)
