JAKARTA, September 9, 2021 – Korindo Group through Korindo Foundation once again awarded scholarships to outstanding children of employees. This year, the scholarships were awarded to 98 junior high school and high school students through a virtual awarding event on Tuesday (7/9).
General Secretary of Korindo Foundation, Seo Jongsik said that the scholarship provision to children of Korindo Group’s employees have been regularly carried out since 1998. Through this program, Korindo proved its commitment to contribute in advancing education in Indonesia through the development of human resources (HR) quality.
“We realize that students are national assets that must be protected and developed so they can contribute to build this nation in the future,” he said.
In the scholarship awarding to the outstanding children of employees, Korindo Foundation established three categories. First, for the students who are accepted into state junior high/high school this year. Second, for students who are ranked in the top five or have an average score of at least 85. Third, students who excel in the arts/sports fields.
Most of this year’s scholarship recipients belong to the second category. The number reached 59 out of 98 students.
Seo hoped that this scholarship distribution could provide benefits for both the children and employees. “Hopefully the students can reach more achievements. Moreover, employees can be more motivated with the spirit of One Step Ahead,” he expressed.
The scholarship recipients consists of outstanding children of employees in regional one area of Korindo Group. 49 of them are employees of PT Aspex Kumbong (AK), a paper production division located in Cileungsi, Bogor.
The rest are spread out at Korindo Headquarters and PT Dongbang Development located in Jakarta, PT Bimaruna Jaya in Cakung, PT Korindo Heavy Industry (KHI) in Balaraja, Kenertec Power System (KPS) in Ciwandan, and Bimaruna Marga Jaya (BMJ) in Cibubur Square. Each child received a scholarship worth Rp 1 million.
One of the scholarship recipients, Nicolas Riyadi, expressed his deep appreciation to Korindo Group for providing educational assistance. “Hopefully Korindo will be more successful, so that it can help more children to go to school,” said the son of Hariyadi, an employee at Bimaruna Jaya.
Korindo Group’s support to the education world has been provided for a long time. In addition to providing scholarships to outstanding children of employees, Korindo Group also regularly sends representatives of Indonesian students to Yonsei University, South Korea, through a student exchange program.
Korindo Group continues to provide scholarship donation even in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, last year, Korindo Foundation also provided scholarships to 28 outstanding students from five universities in Indonesia who were financially affected by the pandemic. (pr)
