BOGOR – On Tuesday (10/24), Korindo Foundation presented capital grants to the Mekarsari Female Farmer Group in Neglasari Village, Dramaga Subdistrict, Bogor Regency. The group is a small association of farmers focused on cultivating organic vegetables that are not only healthy for the body, but also for the environment.
Mekarsari Female Farmer Group has been around since 2011, and its members consist of local female farmers. With over a decade of agricultural experience, the women are now capable of reaping two tons of produce in a single harvest.
Various vegetables are grown at its farming site, such as bok choy, lettuce, long beans, and choy sum. Their quality has attracted many organic vegetable service providers in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, both online and offline, to partnering with the farmer group.
Korindo’s financial aid, provided through the Green Sponsorship program, will be used to improve the group’s greenhouse and nursery, from where vegetable saplings are taken for planting in the members’ gardens.
“I would like to thank Korindo for their assistance. We will use this money to renovate our nursery and optimize operations,” said one group member, Onasih.
Green Sponsorship is one of Korindo Foundation’s Corporate Social Contribution programs that focus on economic empowerment. In this program, capital grants worth 15,000,000 IDR are disbursed to select businesses in two stages to assist with expansion.
“The main goal of Green Sponsorship is to create economic independence for groups or communities in society while improving the standard of living for the beneficiaries of this program,” said Korindo Foundation manager Agung Cahyanto.
Korindo Group will always strive to move the national economy forward, especially towards a more environmentally-friendly economy that’s built on female empowerment. We are committed to empowering the economy, women, and the environment. (PR)
